You have been employed as a Business Analyst in a marketing role, (you could use your own place of work,
if appropriate), to investigate different types and sizes of organisations with whom the business will have
to compete. The company wishes you to look at different forms of organisations in the public, private and
voluntary sectors examining their legal structures, relative size and scope in order to examine their
different functions and objectives. The company is interested in the impact (both positive and negative) of
the macro environment and micro factors on business operations. It is interested in the internal strengths
and weaknesses of specific businesses and in their interrelationship with external macro factors.
You are required to present a report to the CEO and should include the following:
1.Review of organisations: explaining the types, sizes and scope and critically analysing the complexities of
different business structures and the relationships between different functions. Please draw out key links
to business objectives, relative advantages and disadvantages of interrelationships between organisational
functions too.
2.Contemporary examples: using at least three contemporary examples apply a PESTLE model to support
analysis together with critical evaluation of both micro and macro factors on business objectives and
decision making so that the strengths and weaknesses of specific businesses and their interrelationship
with external factors is very clear.
