The provision of better care is based on the best understanding of diverse cultures. Therefore, I plan on improving care for LGBT patients by understanding and full awareness of their culture. I will improve my communication and interaction with LGBT patients to create a conducive environment characterized by a feeling of understanding, acceptance, and a lack of discrimination.

The NP can sieve out stereotypes to cultivate realistic expectations. In essence, it is imperative for health caregivers to improve awareness, thus improving their care delivery to LGBT patients.

While offering care to an LGBT patient, I will create an accepting environment through proper communication. The accepting environment will be successfully created by improving my knowledge. I will openly communicate with the patient by using expressions and attitudes that LGBT patients use to describe themselves. Using such an intervention helps them feel accepted, thus creating a caring environment. Using the correct ally makes patients comfortable, thus removing the illusion of discrimination or abuse. Further, when an NP uses the correct expression/words, it shows inclusive care, respect, and concern.
