SPRING 2020 RESEARCH ESSAY #1 INSTRUCTIONS: CHOOSE AND ANSWER ANY ONE QUESTION. REMEMBER, AN ESSAY IS AN EXPOSITION, RATHER THAN A “LIST OF POINTS.”

QUESTIONS

1. Discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the constructivist theoretical approach to the study of international relations.

2. Choose a multinational corporation as a case study, and discuss the pros and cons of its role as a non-state actor in the global system.

3. Discuss the major similarities and the differences between the global power arrangements—the “Balance of Power,” and the “Balance of Terror”—in the 20th and 21st Century international systems

REQUIREMENTS

DUE DATE: The Essay MUST BE SUBMITTED IN CLASS ON FEBRUARY 18, 2020, BY 12: 15 P.M. LATE SUBMISSION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. IN SUCH A CASE, THE STUDENT CONCERNED WILL RECEIVE A GRADE OF ZERO FOR THE ASSIGNMENT.

LENGTH: The Essay must be a minimum of two (2) word-processed pages, excluding the References Page.

CITATION STYLE: You may use any citation style. In addition, make sure to cite works that you either use directly or indirectly in the Essay.

GRADING: The grade for the Essay will be based on the following criteria:

1. The Quality of the Arguments, including the use of evidence to substantiate the claims.

2. Answering the question fully and completely.

3. Grammar and spelling.
