Organizations rely on people to innovate. Innovation does not happen by itself. It takes effort, strategy, structure, and culture to innovate. Organizations must learn the steps to fostering an innovative culture that sometimes requires changing its culture, which can shift how work is done.
Discuss how leaders are supporting the effort with resources (money) and why these efforts have failed to provide the returns expected.
Discuss the various aspects of creating an innovative company.
To support your work, use your course and textbook readings and also use the South University Online Library. As in all assignments, cite your sources in your work and provide references for the citations in APA format.
Your initial posting should be addressed at 500–1000 words as noted in the attached PDF.
Innovation through Change
It is true that people change, and it is also true that organizations change. There are factors and forces that drive changes. If organizations are going to change, the change may as well be a purposeful, directed change. Organizations today must drive the change they need or be driven out of business by undesirable forces. Manage change or it will manage you. Change or fail. One change that most managers want to direct is increased innovation within their organization. Innovate or fail.
Small organizations want to act like large organizations and dominate their market. Large organizations want to act like small organizations and respond with nimble agility. Both small and large organizations want to adjust quickly to changes in the marketplace, changes in customer preferences, and changes in their internal and external environments and innovate to survive.
Survival in a highly competitive, global marketplace requires that organizations learn to innovate continuously. Organizations can do that by utilizing various types of innovation, categorized as technology, product and services, strategy and structure, and culture. These four types of innovation are integrated with one another. For example, customer preferences may require changes in technology. Changes in technology might require changes in products and services. Changes in products and services may require changes in strategy and structure such as production. Changes in production may require changes in technology, training, and the need for different recruiting efforts. Finally, an organization’s culture is going to change as it adapts to new technologies, makes and sells new products and services, learns new skills, and recruits new people needed to support all of these changes.
Role of Innovation in Change Management
A global marketplace with increasing competition, changing workforce, and a better-educated customer drives the need for innovation. This, coupled with changes in products and services, strategy, and culture, drives change that further drives the need to innovate.
