How a systematic literature review differs from primary research
A systematic review is a high-level overview of research on a question that systematically identifies, selects, evaluates, and focuses on evidence-based research to answer the research question(s). It provides analysis and reports of research conducted by others and not necessarily the author’s personal findings or primary research.
Primary research reports on details and results of a research study. The research articles
report details of findings based on the author’s personal study research. It is written by a subject matter expert(s) who has extensive knowledge of the research topic.
What are the benefits of pursuing publication with a systematic literature review? To achieve acknowledgment as an expert on a specific topic. Articles from an author whose work has been cited many times by others are often viewed as an expert in a specific field of study and can be used as a key resource for consultation.
