I personal have never put much thought into the fact that there is a distinct difference between Arab and Muslim. Arab being considered a nationality while Muslim is a religion. The short film while having a comical tone addressed some serious issues faced everyday by those of Arab descent and those who practice the Muslim faith. Similar to the discrimination faced by African Americans they are over looked for jobs in which they qualify simply from their names. They are racially profiled by not only law enforcement but by society as a whole. Their women are judged for dressing in accordance to their religious beliefs by a society who overly sexualizes women. Today they have reason to fear making their holy journey Mecca. The way the current president wants things they may not be allowed to return to their families even if they have legal statues here in the states. Possibly worse they can be viewed as having terrorist connections and harassed by the government or jailed. The United States can definitely do better for all who dwell here. Katriana R. Post 2 Muslims and Arabs are similar , yet they have some differences in the United States. They share some beliefs and religions yet their culture is slightly different . There are 22 nations that make up the Middle East, and the beliefs and traditions there are practiced more than in the United States. Sometimes when Muslims of Arab Americans come to the United States they adapt to their way of life. They start doing less than what’s required in their culture. For example the Hijab is something that is traditionally supposed to be worn by women at all times and if they don’t its kind of a sign of disrespect. Islam is the major religion that’s shared amongst the culture. Muslims pray to Allah and study the teachings of the Koran. There are some events like 9/11 that have increased discrimination upon Muslims that has caused them to be more prone to violence from others. Islamophopia is a term that is now used to refer to negative feelings toward Muslims in the United States and the short video gave us many different examples of how it happens.
