J&L a global toy manufacturing company incorporated in the US with 35,000 employees in over
20 countries is in desperate need of an HRIS system. The company’s processes currently are all
manual, apart from payroll which they outsource. The manual process is overwhelming the HR
department and things are falling through the cracks. Employee raises have been delayed. The
employee performance review process has not taken place in more than two years due to the lack
of personnel in the HR department.
Other areas of concern are employee’s benefit, tracking personal leave, vacation time and training
and development. Because of the manual process the company has noticed employee’s taking more
leave or vacation time than it currently allows because there is no information readily available to
them when requesting the time off. This is costing J&L as every time someone in manufacturing
is out, they must have a trained replacement ready to step in to fulfill these tasks.
“With this initiative we are looking to modernize, simplify and centralize our HR processes. This
will increase efficiency in the HR department and improve operations. Particularly when we can
track in real time all employee requested leaves as well as accrued time, this will prove an
invaluable tool when it comes to resource planning.” Marla Treats, Sr. Director Human Resources.
Managed has tasked the human resource department with identifying the most suitable HRIS
system to address all areas of concern. The completion timeframe for this project is 9 months to
launch and successfully train all staff.
