Guidelines for Chronicle of Higher Education Assignment

Assignment Guidelines:

Chronicle of Higher Education Writing Assignment: Write a short summary of an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education ( https://www.chronicle.com/) relating to a case involving a current legal and ethical issue in higher education.  Articles should be current (published within the past two years) and relate to a topic addressed in this course (i.e. student speech, negligence, religion, etc.).

GOAL: The goal of this assignment is to help students to become familiar with current legal issues that colleges and universities are presently facing and help reinforce the material covered in this course.

FORMAT:The  article summary should be 3-4 typed pages in length, excluding the title page and reference page. The paper must be created using Microsoft Word and follow APA, 6th ed style with a APA cover page and reference page.

CONTENT: The assignment should address each of the following: a) the legal action being taken, b) parties involved in the case (i.e. petitioner/respondent), c) the legal issue in question, and d) legal implications. Conclude your assignment by posing 2-3 discussion questions concerning the article.

*Students will need to attach a full-text copy of the article to their article summary writing assignment. A link to the reference to the article is not sufficient.
