We have referred to Machiavelli as a ‘Modern’ thinker. Please reflect on this using evidence from both Discourses on Livy and The Prince. Is Machiavelli a modern thinker? In what ways does he represent a bridge to the past as well as to ‘Modernity’? You might consider issues of statecraft, religion, and/or human nature in answering this question.
