The Tina Jones assignments are a digital clinical experience that allows you to practice assessment techniques on a virtual patient. It is important to note that you
must complete the assigned skills and must document your findings before you leave Tina’s room, or your information will be lost. You will complete eight single
system assessment assignments, , which will prepare you for the patient volunteer comprehensive assessment necessary for your final project.
Prompt: Once you complete each assessment, the next step is to address questions regarding the assessment in the “hallway,” and document your assessment
findings Then you will address review questions based upon the system and complete a self-reflection of your performance. For each Tina Jones module you
complete, you will be assessed on six areas: the completion of the patient assessment represented in your DCE score, your professional communication
throughout the module, your documentation of detailed and well-organized notes, your recommendation of interventions, and a plan for promoting overall
health. The final step is a review of content with critical self-reflection on your experience in the assignment. Self-reflection is an important part of demonstrating
the learning achieved within the digital simulation. The self-reflection is comprehensive including the reflection questions asked in Shadow Health, a review of
the skills performed during the assessment, information provided to advance the plan of care, and personal strengths and weaknesses.
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed.
1. Transcript: Introduce yourself and your role, identify your patient using two identifiers, ask permission to examine, find at least four opportunities to
apply education/empathy, use professional, respectful, and non-judgmental language, have a definite closure to the interview that includes ensuring
your patient is in a safe environment.
2. Hallway: Apply collaboration strategies (address team members by name, use professional tone), address questions appropriately, and report
information using SBAR, and goals provided using SMART
3. Documentation: Pertinent information provided in an organized fashion (subjective followed by objective)
4. Review Questions: Answer multiple choice questions appropriately and essay responses are detailed and address the question.
5. Self-Reflection: You will utilize the self-reflection prompt area in Shadow Health to address the simulation question and provide a summation of skills,
communication, and strengths and weaknesses that you self-identify in the digital simulation.
