While it seems no one can agree on what the US immigration policy/policies should be, nearly everyone agrees that the system is broken. After listening to “Abdi and the Golden Ticket,” watching “THE FENCE” and “BUILD THE WALL” and completing all of the readings (historical up to current times), what is your sense of what changes should be made to US immigration policy(ies) for LEGAL migration, including the acceptance and number of refugees? The current system is a three-pronged immigration admissions system largely based on family unification, as well as skills and refugee admissions. Note that the United States is one of the few developed countries with birthright citizenship (Canada is the other). This is unlikely to change, but you could address it in your proposed change(s) if you wish. If you are interested in looking at the numbers on immigrants, the DHS Yearbook is an excellent source: https://www.dhs.gov/immigration-statistics/yearbook If you want to also discuss, undocumented migration you may do so, but please offer your criteria or a plan for legal migration to the US first
